| ☆ SAKURA 2? / Susie | | | | Sakura is playing here in the San Francisco area and I have been enjoying it very much. Would love to see how the story continues. Since Churasan has parts 1-3, I was thinking there may be a chance that there would be a sequel.
Oh yes..please reply in English as I can not read Japanese. :(

About your question, as far as I know, I don't hear anything about Sakura 2, yet. When Sakura was over, there was a rumor that Part 2 might happen, and I believe many people still wishing it. In March 2003, "Sakura" played live at Meiji-za, it was kind of continuing from the TV show. Since I am living in Connecticut, I couldn't go see them, but my friends told me the story ends about same!^^;
Are you watching Sakura in Japanese? Or subtitled? How far is the story now?
Feel free to visit us again! (Yuki R)

| ☆ Re: Welcome to our site!! / みずは | | | | Hello Susie! Thank you for visiting our website!!
As Yuki-R-san replied, I have never heard of Sakura 2, either.
By the way, can you see any other Japanese dramas on your TV? Here in Japan, he will act as "Kiso Yoshinaka" in the next NHK's Samurai drama called "Yoshitsune." It will start from January 2005.
Or, have you ever heard of the Japanese movie called "Twilight Samurai?" Its director maid another Samurai movie this year and it will show at movie theaters from coming October in Japan. I hope you can see it in San Fransisco someday as "Twilight Samurai" did so!!
If you cannot understand my English, I'm sorry and please let me know. Feel free to ask any questions and talk to you soon!! from Mizuha

My husband just came back from San francisco on his business trip, and told me that San francisco was so beartiful, and He was very much impressed to see Alcatraz Island when he has free time.Is this a famous place at your area?
Well, you are always welcome to talk here. There are some people who can speak English. Hope to hear from you again!

| ☆ Sakura 2 / Susie | | | | Hi everyone! Thanks for your replies! :) I really appreaciate it!
Yuki's questions: As for Japanese TV in the San Francisco..we have two nights of Japanese television, saturday and sunday. Currently Sakura has been playing one episode(15 min show, 15 commerical) once a week. The storyline so far is that Sakura is deciding whether or not to stay in Japan or go home to Hawaii to become the chief researcher. Since Sakura is played at such a slow pace here, I was able to get a copy of the series with subtitles from a man in LA. It finished playing there last year I believe. At the end of Sakura, I wondered if Sakura will stay in Japan permanently and marry Katsuragi. Did they get married in the live Sakura ?
Mizuha's Question: Unfortunately since we have to wait for subtitles we don't get very recent dramas. Here is the website with the schedule for saturday night. http://www.fuji-tv.com/ I think they finished Little Chef and started something else though. They are also playing itoshii hito he and Good Luck on sunday.
Maririn Question: Yes, many tourists visit Alcatraz every year and some even say its haunted!

| ☆ Re: (No Subject) / ゆきR | | | | Hi Susie, thanks for returning my question!
They didn't get married at the play, I heard about Katsuragi said that he doesn't want to marry with Sakura (yet?) or some.ーー; (Mizuha-san and Maririn-san went to see the play.)
Well, frankly speaking about "Sakura", I was so frustrated (even mad) about how's story went after Summer break, especially after Sanja-Matsuri. Since the first half of the series was SO GOOD (well, writer had finished the books this far before they start shooting.), it's so disappointed that story had somewhat changed because of the writer heard what audience want. I believe.) So, if "Sakura 2" is happen, I hope I don't need to struggle about "should I stay or should I go" thing...^^;
By the way, I'd visit SF a couple of times. I like Fisherman's warf! I have some friends who's living in Novato and Mountain View. My husband's dad used to living in Half Moon Bay and San Juan Bautista. I like SF not only it's nice place, but the place Yukiyoshi were born!

| ☆ Re: (No Subject) / みずは | | | | Hi again, Susie. Thank you for answering my question. My cousin has been San Jose for 4 years since 1999 to 2003, and I've been there once in 2000. I'm sure I saw that TV in her home. I remember I saw the program called "Iron Chef." It was really interesting to see it with English subtitles!! And of course I've visited San Fransisco at that time. But unfortunately it was really foggy and I couldn't see the whole Golden Gate Bridge... So someday I wanna go there again.
By the way, I suppose you can see "Yoshitsune" next year because "Yoshitsune" is the next NHK Taiga Drama - I mean the drama which is after "Shinsengumi" is "Yoshitsune." I don't know how long it takes to put the subtitles or how many episodes they broadcasted so far though, "Shinsengumi" will last till December of this year even in Japan so you are able to see it next year!! from Mizuha

thank you also for answering my questions! :) So does that mean Katsuragi was not ready to commit to Sakura? That doesnt sound very good. But may be its because he wants to make a good life for her first. I wish I could have seen the play. Perhaps Shiho Takano and Yukiyoshi Ozawa have been too successful with other projects they dont have time to make Sakura 2? But I agree the ending is so vague that you dont know will happen to Sakura and the back and forth between Hawaii and Japan became a little repetitive. A few years ago I did see Yukiyoshi is Friends with Won Bin and Kyoko Fukuda. I did not like him in that series but his character in Sakura has made me a fan. :)
Yes, I did hear that Yukiyoshi was born in SF! Does anyone know anymore about his life here? Did he go to school here or only Japan?
I'm glad that you have enjoyed visiting SF and have family here. I work very close to Mt View in the south bay. Because I loved the Sakura series so much, I will visit Tokyo/Kyoto/Takayama in October! :)
Take care! susie

-------------------- Hi Mizuha!
I work in Santa Clara very close to San Jose! :) The weather is warmer south of San Francisco. Less fog. :) Too bad you did not get a chance to see the GG Bridge on nice day. Our best months for warm weather are late August-October. In the other summer months the weather can be unpredicatable. In fact, it was 50 F degrees on monday! I also enjoy Iron Chef! They used to air Iron Chef on Japanese TV but now a cable network, Food Networks has bought the show and the voices are dubbed in English. Hope you can visit SF again soon!
I do not watch too many Taiga drama due to the fact I am afraid of swords... :) But I do enjoy seeing the old architecture. In 2001, I had the opportunity to visit Matsuyama Castle in Shikoku. I am a programmer so back then I was sent to Mastushita Kotobuki Electronics to work on our hard drive projects.
Take care! susie

| ☆ Re: (No Subject) / ゆきR | | | | Hi,Susie!
I don't know well about live stage.(Sorry!^^;)
I need to make sure later but I believe that; He was born in SF when his father, Seiji Ozawa, was conducting at SF symphony, then moved to Boston due to his father got possition at Boston Symphony Ochestra. He went back to Japan to have education in Japan, when his older sister was age for 1st grade. However, he had a acting class at Boston Uni. for a year, when he was study at Seijyo Uni. in Tokyo. Also had stage acting lesson in NY.
Well, I'm start to working at HRC (new one in CT), so I might be can't responce sooner... If you want to know some more about him or anythig, write me e-mail (address above)! ^^
Have a nice & safety trip to Janan! Enjoy it!
